OUTDOOR LIVING IN WEST CHESTER
Before
Before
After: I designed a deck which looked like it
was part of the original house construction. Large
masonry piers replaced under-sized wood posts. The deck
conceals a garage below, and the grade change
is addressed by a series of graceful steps.
(construction: W.D. Wells & Associates, Inc.)
Simple plantings soften the edges.
While this deck was very well-crafted with ipe (a variety
of mahogany), we are looking at other more
sustainable materials options in our current work.
Materials selections were critical in helping this
space connect to a c. 1927 home.
SWIMMING IN MALVERN
The seasonal colors and textures of the poolside garden shown above- started with the blank slate shown below. |
Prior to construction, stakes mark the corners of the pool. Challenges here included steep slopes, narrow Zoning setbacks and meeting the clients' need for privacy. |
