What is a 'landscape architect?'
A landscape architect is an individual licensed by the State to protect health, safety and welfare of the clients they serve.  Landscape architects hold four or five year college degrees from an accredited institution; they have passed a rigorous examination of such topics as site engineering and have met a minimum verified work experience period prior to licensure.  Landscape architects must attain 24 continuing education credits every two years to qualify for re-licensure.  Landscape designers, landscape contractors, landscapers and others may not legally call themselves 'landscape architects.'

Do you charge for design?
Yes. Typically, we 'wrap' or 'absorb' design fees into our installation contracts.  We will prepare a detailed design contract prior to beginning any project.  If we do not install the work we've designed for you, we will invoice you for design services.

What is included in your design package?
We provide a scaled drawing (see above) showing the proposed changes to the garden which include a detailed plant list and notations on construction; pictures of proposed plants and materials; three dimensional rendering if requested, and a detailed installation proposal.  Design includes revision(s) based on client feedback.

Do you design with any particular landscape 'style?'
Our designs are tailored to our clients' needs which vary widely. In general, however, our style might be closest to the 'bold American' style which uses lower maintenance perennials and grasses to provide rich texture and seasonal interest.  We design appropriate to our clients' aesthetic values; the architecture of the home and the environment.  All of our clients demand low maintenance whenever possible.

What size projects to you work on?
We do not qualify projects on size; we do small repairs and installations, as well as entire properties.
